Several series and other books. Well all I can say is that if I download a Lonely Planet ebook from Amazon’s site it works spot on my kindle. If I download another Lonely Planet ebook from Lonely Planet’s site to my PC then copy it to my android readers and my kindle device, it is perfect on the PC and android readers but the Kindle has display issues with some of the maps, some dynamic links don’t work and some font styles get screwed up.

However, when the mobi version of a book, or part of it, is copied directly to the kindle book folder in a Kindle device via USB cable (after being packaged for publishing by: kindle kids’ book creator, as one example of a mobi file extension creation) the mobi book display in the Kindle looks like a document one will see in an email attachment, or in an kindle ebook PC readerkind of, like even this email. Or, maybe I am missing a step or something in my mobi download test? I believe, the Amazon KPD folks process a mobi, azw3, or kd8 file in a “special” way prior to sending a book to “us,” for it to look so pretty and manipulatible. Cordially, john. Leo, I have a number of books in Calibre on my PC. I would like to place them on my Android tablet, in the Kindle program.

Become a and go ad-free! Email it to your Kindle Not everyone realizes it, but every Kindle activated with an Amazon account is assigned a unique email address. You can simply email the “.mobi” file as an attachment to the email address associated with your Kindle. To find the email address of your Kindle, login to your Amazon account and visit the (page: It defaults to showing you “Your Content,” the Kindle books and other items in your library. Click on the “ Your Devices” tab to see the Kindle devices and applications that are associated with your account: As you can see, I’ve clicked on one of my Kindles (we have several), and beneath it the page lists the email address associated with that Kindle. It’ll be of the form [something] @ kindle.com, where “[something]” is probably a combination of name and numbers.

These are fed through the “Meta-Data Settings” pane, accessible by choosing the “Project / Meta-Data Settings” menu item and clicking on the “Project Properties” button. Now fill in your name, title, etc., as I’ve done here: When you’re finished, hit “OK” to dismiss the “Meta-Data Settings” pane. If you now click on the “Title Page” document in the Binder, you’ll see the year and author placeholder tags, and you’ll also find space for you to enter your book’s ISBN and ISBN-13 if you have them. Here I’ve entered dummy information. (You can delete the ISBN and ISBN-13 lines if they’re unnecessary.) I can’t get around the digital rights management in the files. I still have to have the Mobipocket app on my laptop to read any of those books. If I don’t find a way to deal with them, I may have to just find a way to get them again. Though I’m loathe to buy them again. I have a significant amount of money in those books.

The EDU Textbook Creator seems fairly simple in its current form, but Amazon says it will continue to add features as time goes on, so don’t be surprised if tools for educators get a lot more sophisticated eventually. For now, it’s a concession to the legacy educational publishing industry that also seems to want to encourage more self-publishing efforts by educational professionals and authors. Apple’s iBooks Author tool tries to convince educators to go digital-first, while Amazon’s says bring whatever you’ve already got to the table to help us expand our education market reach.

Kindle Create A step-by-step video guide for formatting a paperback manuscript. KDP Build Your Book A tool for formatting my manuscript in Microsoft Word that lets me publish the finished file as a Kindle eBook and paperback. Kindle Create Add-in for Microsoft Word (Beta) A tool that shows me how my eBook will look before I publish it on KDP. Kindle Previewer A tool that turns my illustrated children's books into great-looking Kindle eBooks. Kindle Kids' Book Creator A tool that turns my comics, graphic novels, and manga into Kindle eBooks.

I cannot find a single copy of BurritoRoot3.apk to use a previous guide I found. So I decided to side load Google Play so I can get the youtube app for my children to use. Except my Kindle randomly does not accept most apk files I have tried. I managed to find older ones from this guide but everytime I try to open the play store it says the Play Store has stopped and just closes. I tried downloading a newer version ap and my kindle can't parse it to install. Over and over and over. Should I just smash it with a hammer and tell my children god hates them?

Members of the board felt that there was general misunderstanding by the public about the role of basic research in science. The problem was thought to be particularly severe in the case of the behavioral sciences but it appeared to be a reflection of a more general anti-intellectual attitude in the United States. At the same time basic researchers had been admittedly underconcerned with the prac tical application of their results. Yet many thoughtful scientists realize there is a very fruitful interplay between basic research and application. The proposal was made to prepare a book of case studies that demon strate the application of basic research in psychology. The book was organized to sample applications from a range of topics in psychology. The editorial board divided up responsibilities for these topics.

No, I hadn’t submitted any file to Amazon previously. I used the “as is” setting in Scrivener for the title page, copyright, bio, and preview extract, as you did in your example. So the title page has a large font (and when I load the mobi file on my phone/ipad/whatever, it looks fine — but on the commercial version downloaded from Amazon the title page font is so large that the title splits over two phone pages) and the back matter is in a font probably one or two points smaller than the text of the book, just barely noticeable. I’m downloading Calibre right now so that I can look at the html coding of the mobi file.

Simply go to the Amazon.com Web site and on the left side bring up the Kindle menu: You can see the selection I’ve highlighted, “Free Kindle Reading Apps”. Click on it and you’ll be shown this: It’s quite impressive how many different systems support the Kindle, whether it’s your Droid tablet, your iPad, your PC laptop or your Mac system. It’s the latter that we want, so click on “Mac”: If you guessed that you should click on “Download now”, you’re spot on! Since I’m running Chrome on my Mac, it warns me about downloads in the following manner: I do want to proceed, so I’ll click on “Keep”.

After uninstalling Kindle Textbook Creator, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will offer to run an additional cleanup. Click Next to proceed with the cleanup. All the items of Kindle Textbook Creator that have been left behind will be found and you will be able to delete them.

Finally, with FireFireFire now installed, copy the ROM to your Kindle Fire using any micro-USB to USB cable. Your computer should recognize it as an external storage device, just like a USB drive. Using TWRP To Flash Your Kindle Fire’s Android ROM With the Kindle Fire booted into TWRP Recovery Mode, begin by selecting Wipe to factory reset your device. This will remove all data from the various caches, a prerequisite for successfully flashing your chosen ROM.

Tough to know exactly what’s going on without more detail, but a couple of thoughts. First, the fact that the file you submitted looks perfect on your previewer app and on your devices but not in the “look inside” sample–this makes me wonder whether you’ve previously submitted a pre-Scrivener version to Amazon? If so, know that even though the actual commercial file will update very quickly on Amazon, the “look inside” sample can take quite a while to do so. Second, are you saying that the font in the front and back matter differs in size from the font in the body of the book? Forgive me if this is an unnecessarily basic point, but remember that on an e-reader the user generally has control over the font size and not the author. That said, there are ways to force font sizes through, and perhaps you’ve inadvertently done that.

I have archived and re-downloaded, but still have the initial file. PD, if you are getting the file from Amazon, you will always get the version you initially ‘purchased.’ They do this so that readers don’t lose notes, bookmarks, and highlighting. You can request the latest from them, however.

Once it’s downloaded, the Finder will show you the app in its own window: Simply drag the “Kindle” application into the shortcut for the Applications folder, then launch the new app! Sign in with the same credentials you use for your Amazon.com account and it’ll know what you’ve purchased and make it available, instantly, as you can see in this rather squished image of my current Kindle ebook library: I’m in the middle of Brazil: Five Centuries of Change so I’ll simply click on that title in the “All Items” listing in the library (above) and it downloads the book in a matter of seconds and before you can say the book title twice, I’m looking at the opening page on screen: Nice and simple, actually! Oh, and one more handy tip: on the top left is a button that looks like different sizes of the letter ‘a’. Click on it and you’ll find that there are a variety of different settings you can tweak for viewing the book: I’m a fan of the sepia color scheme, personally, but your milage may vary. Now you’re all set and can save some money – and a tree – by buying the Kindle versions of your next books even without owning an Amazon Kindle reader.

With no input from me whatsoever, the pages jumped forwards or backwards by 2-8 pages. I didn’t click anything, I didn’t hit any keys. Then I would have to go back and find the page I was on. Clicking to find the page would also result in it going much further than I intended it to. So then I’d have to go back the other way.

And if this post helps you solve a problem, why not spend one second to click like and share it with your friends?

I can open and read my books and documents without issue. The two features that are missing that I’d like are the useof foreign language dictionaries and the ability to have the app read books that are just text. Occasionally, I like to read French literature in French because, well, it’s usually better in French. My French is a little rusty, so I bought a French to English dictionary. On the Kindle, if there is a word I don’t know, I can just touch on that word and instantly get the definition from my French to English dictionary. It happens automatically.

There is even a version that is but with various performance enhancements and a cooked-in Google Play. The steps for flashing are generally the same, but please consult the documentation associated with your chosen ROM. In either case copy the “.mobi” file into the folder “Books” (Kindle Fire devices) or “Documents” (Kindle Paperwhite and older devices) in the device’s internal storage. After it has been copied safely disconnect your Kindle and the book should appear on the device’s list of books. Note: in my experience the various lists of books provided by the Kindle device can sometimes take a while to update. Also note that copying a book to the device in this manner does not place it in your Kindle library for other devices. I personally find the email approach above to be much more reliable.
