Nokia Software Updater 3.0.495 was released to consumers in 2011. After acquisition of Nokia's devices and services divisions by Microsoft, the application was renamed to Microsoft Software Updater. The Microsoft Software Updater does not install any pre-release of Nokia device software, but will restore the latest updates. The service can be used to restore the firmware on 'bricked' phones which previously could only be done at local Microsoft Care customer service centres. Microsoft Care's range of software update and recovery programs also include a software recovery tool for Lumia-branded Windows Phones that don't start up or respond which may restore the latest firmware. The Recovery tool requires the telephone to have 70-80% battery charge and works only with or higher devices.

Something that is mostly a separate issue, but is exacerbated by the relaunch behavior, is that Teams has stored a credential in my login keychain (whether I tell it to or not), and seems capable of using it, but prompts for auth using a dialoge with the user/pass already populated.

It's annoying, though, because I'll get an update on my phone and then realize that the desktop app has stopped running again. Super annoying — please help! Hello, I'm experiencing the same problem on MacBook Air running Sierra 10.12.3 too. What I think is that Teams checks updates availability, and even if I have the last build (I think: 0.7.00.3101), it seems that it finds it has a most recent update to do, so installs it and closes (and not restarting). But it has just installed the same build, again and again.

Can’t there just be a place in properties to set sane defaults per the user so that this problem goes away? Also, there needs to be a quick connect option. I work with thousands of Windows VMs, and rarely have to connect to the same one more than a couple of times a year. I don’t want to have to create a new entry a dozen times a day for every session I access. I just want a quick connect box where I can pop in a name and go. This is the one application, that I wish behaved more like the Windows version.

All of these Macs are logged-in to a single account most of the time. It's a standard (non-admin) mobile AD account with a local home. On at least one of these, Teams prompted for admin privileges at first run about 20 times, in what looked like an attempt at setting up an update helper daemon run by root (screenshot attached).

That process eliminated the 'Helper Tool' installation prompts, but now Teams just closes. What I noticed today, is that when I lock my Mac and then return and unlock it, Teams is closed upon unlocking. The process is not running in the background, the app is simply closed. I have moved to the web version of the tool for now as it is driving myself and the other 2 insane. Does this help anyone else here understand what might be happening?

I reason why Apple needs to be played as a second-class citizen, always being behind the Windows version by a few years. Apple has what it takes to make a killer office productivity suite of its own. Apple should continue to build out iWork and iWork for iCloud, adding new features and making it highly competitive with Office. There is no update UI in this scenario so the suggestion above isn't aligned with my problem. I am complaining about focus stealing when the updater is either checking for updates or updating in the background. In either case it should not steal the focus from the app I am working in. Today it derailed my ability to host an online group meeting. I had to apologize to important meeting participants why I am having trouble presenting.

You’ll see what I mean: we’ll need to check for updates twice for the proper patch to be applied. To start, though, click on “ Check for Updates:” on the lower right. It’ll then go out to Microsoft’s update server and check: Pay attention here: This is an update for the actual AutoUpdate program, not the update for Microsoft Word. But to proceed you’ll need to apply this one, so click on “ Install” and it’ll quickly download and install, showing you the following rather quickly: You’re not done yet, though! Click on “ Close” and you can again choose “ Check for Updates” in the AutoUpdate program to see if there are any additional updates — like the one you want to apply to Microsoft Word.
