Full featured CD/DVD drives arrived in this version, which allowed the user to burn disks directly in the virtual environment, and play any copy-protected CD or DVD as one would in. In addition, a shared clipboard and drag-drop support between Mac OS X and the guest OS was implemented. This version brought the ability for users with a Windows XP installation to upgrade to Windows Vista from within the VM environment. A new feature known as Coherence was added, which removed the Windows chrome, desktop, and the virtualization frames to create a more seamless desktop environment between Windows and Mac OS X applications. This version also allowed users to boot their existing Windows XP partitions, which eliminated the need to have multiple Windows installations on their Mac. A tool called Parallels Transporter was included to allow users to migrate their Windows PC, or existing or VMs to Parallels Desktop for Mac.
The Standard edition (tested here) costs $79.99 for a license that lasts forever, but it doesn't include upgrades to any future versions. The Pro edition, which costs $99.99 per year, adds free upgrades to any future new version and a subscription to the Parallels Access remote-desktop service (normally $20 per year). The Pro version also includes high-level features that I didn't test, including the ability to access a guest OS via or from a browser (if the guest OS is set up as a Web server) and integration with Microsoft Visual Studio and virtualization tools like. There's also a Business edition, which is subscription-based and adds centralized management features, built-in access to cloud services like Dropbox or Box, and 24/7 support—you have to contact the company for pricing quote, however. Use Cases Users typically run Parallels (or competitor Fusion) in one of two modes. If I didn't, I would never download it. And when I realized the payment requirement after the trial period, I quit your app immediately without trying. I had checked the differences between Lite and Standart Version before downloading the Lite from App Store. And it had made sense why Lite is free and Standart is not.

(~ 5 years) My big concern when switching to the Mac was.would I need to rebuy a lot of the software that I was using. With Parallels the issue was moot. If you selected the Express installation, you won’t need to do anything: just watch as Windows installs. The installation process can take a while, if mechanical hard drives or a DVD is involved. If everything is running off an SSD, however, you’ll be up and running in a few minutes.

Parallels makes upgrading easy. I just popped in the Desktop 9 CD, then realized that they will let me download it. I prefer to download as the CD will never survive in my house. If I ever needed to re-install, then I will have to have it. So, I downloaded the software and hit install.

Do we really have to pay every single time the OS changes? Surely they could throw a free upgrade for loyal customers. Of course this is a Paralles issue. What great about OWC, the cost of purchasing is discounted when picking up some great hardware. Thats a really good deal.
I prefer to download as the CD will never survive in my house. If I ever needed to re-install, then I will have to have it. So, I downloaded the software and hit install. It found my Parallels 8 and replaced it. All of my OS's are still there. Now my Dropbox and Google drive docs are available on the Windows machine. This may seem like nothing, but I can access my Photo Stream, my iCloud Docs (which I don't use), and my Google Drive docs straight from my Windows machine without having to create shares and links or by installing and mirroring the same data on the Windows machine.
