I wrote a letter of complaint requesting a replacement battery. This is how they list their product: 'NEW Genuine Original Apple Macbook Unibody 13' A1342 A1331 Laptop Battery 63.5Wh.' This company lists itself as 'Based in the USA.' This appears to be coded language that it is not an American company. Evidence suggests it is a Chinese company.
So - I have a weird comment about this. I wanted to make sure that I was getting the right model - so I opened up my laptop and then thought 'well, why not just remove the battery while i'm in here, it's shot anyway'. Though, I forgot about the stupid screws (Apple really did us over on that one!). Though I disconnected the battery connector and didn't bother to re-connect it when I was finished and just put the cover back on. Here's the weird part - when I went to turn my laptop back on.MY BATTERY WAS RECOGNIZED.AND WORKING! I was under the impression that the connector 'connects' the battery's charge to the laptop, but this just doesn't make sense!

I think the greater issue is that after three weeks, a small headache and several emails back and forth I still do not have a proper battery for my MacBook Pro at my disposal. Lesson learned: don't buy a MacBook Pro battery off eBay. Save yourselves from these issues and pay more for a genuine battery directly from Apple.
Next even if your system is out of warranty, they will not sell you a replacement battery and the last time I checked I could not find any from other vendors, although I have found a few for 09 uni body Mac Book Pros, I have a 2011 and there do not seem to be any. 
They want to control the system completely and make sure that they get a piece of any work required, how much of the $179.00 replacement cost is actually the battery and how much is the labor that half or more of the people on this forum could do themselves? I hope someone does come out with replacements. After my warranty is up and my battery goes bad, I would rather replace it myself and save the money, even if the Apple product is superior, when an average replacement is about $49.00 installed myself and Apples is $179 installed by them, it can fail three times before I am at the same cost.
I do have the original charger but the smaller cable has broken. I'm happy to provide this however. The laptop is in all working order and has been a great working laptop for myself. I'm selling due to no longer needing the laptop and also downgrading. There is a small dent in the laptop on the back but this causes no harm.

Even though i put the original battery back and tried all the solutions possible (trying to turn on without a battery on, smc resets, checking the ram etc.) my mac now doesn't show any sign of life and apparently the logic board is dead. I'm suspecting that the new battery caused a short circuit and killed my beloved macbook pro's the logic board. Even though there is no way to be sure that the replacement battery caused the damage, my advise to anyone looking to replace the battery themselves to be careful with those third party batteries on ebay.
More to the point, APPLE DOES NOT RECOMMEND THIS, so don't do it! I Installed 2x 8GB ( 16Gb total) of Crucial Mac RAM at 1333Mhz for my Late 2011 MacBook Pro, and it works beautifully, fully recognised and working well. I followed these instructions, but as Apple didnt recommend disconnecting the battery, I skipped this step, and as well as taking less time, nothing was damaged or broken, and everything works perfectly!!! Just make sure that you DISCHARGE ALL STATIC ELECTRICITY FROM YOUR HANDS, by touching a metal surface in the Mac.
