Hi Thanks for this! Indeed I was able to extract the Markers from the Quicktime (.mov) file as Text using the old version of Quicktime 7. It was formatted quite differently from the comma separated values ypu illustrated. However a text editor soon got me to this 00:00:00.000, 00:00:20.186, 00:01:03.997, 00:02:21.841, 00:02:54.007, 00:03:30.376, 00:04:13.353, then this ( raw text, no spaces ) 00:00:00.000,00:00:20.186,00:01:03.997,00:02:21.841,00:02:54.007,00:03:30.376,00:04:13.353, I can paster this into the Chapter fields but keep getting invalid timestamp messages. My use case requires 60 -80 chaper markers in a presentation.
With the AVIs I'd personally take no chapters over conversion any day but if they look acceptable to you. The method below has been a fair bit of trial and error, but hopefully some of the steps might help others that want to add chapters to Video files. Set up the Chapters in 3.9, use to find the chapter change points and then set the time value in SimpleMovieX along with a Name for Each Chapter. It is useful to do a Screen Capture of the Chapter Positions and names for the video file, and save the screen capture as an image file in the same directory as the Video File in case the export from SimpleMovieX fails for any reason. When Chapters are named and defined, export the Movie from SimpleMovieX as a Movie file using the same Video Dimension Size as the original and the Quality at Maximum. Unfortunately when converting this file to an MKV file, the audio track within the QuickTime Move file cannot be read and is discarded, so you need to export the Audio Track from as a separate WAVE file.
